Overview

Spotify is a digital music, podcast, and video service that gives users access to millions of songs and other content from creators all over the world. In this case study, I redesigned Spotify’s lyrics display interface with accessibility features and added a comment section to promote user interactions and engagement.

Problem & Goal

Spotify lyrics display interface makes it hard for users to locate the exact line that is being played. Young music lovers, including people with low vision, need a more visible lyrics display and more interactions with others on Spotify, so that they could better understand and enjoy the music.

User Research

Survey

I conducted 50 user surveys and below is the result I collected.

First impression on Spotify's lyrics interface:

Whether comfortable knowing the number of users who share the same tastes

Interview Takeaway

  • More Interaction with other users

  • Share lyrics in the form other than social media

  • Lyrics should be more visible

  • More music download options
